This
day has started out much differently than the past two. My sleeplessness is due to excitement rather
than exhaustion. We are getting ready to
go eat and have a short meeting with a Holt representative. Then will be just a few more hours before we
go to the Civil Affairs Office and pick up Primrose.
The
meeting was exciting, we got to meet Catherine with the Holt China team and she
is AMAZING!! We loved her from the first
moment she began talking. In our meeting
we met two other families who will be going with us to get their children and we received our Red Book on Primrose.
This is our last official update on her with some new pictures before the
hand-off. Needless to say, we were just
ready to go to the Civil Affairs Office and get her. Well, after our meeting we still had about 3
hours to eat lunch and get our gifts together for the orphanage.
Well,
2:00 pm finally rolled around and we met up with Catherine and the other 2
families in the lobby ready to go. Once
we arrived at the Civil Affairs Office, it was chaos beyond belief. Forever families everywhere …. Babies crying
everywhere. It was crazy! When it was finally our groups turn, the
couple from Hawaii was first to get their son.
The family from Ohio was next, and I was fascinated that they are
adopting a 13 year old girl. They have a
very neat story; I will hopefully get to share some of it later this week or at
least point you to their blog. Then
Catherine called April and I to the front and out came Primrose with her
caregiver. She handed Prim off to her
mommy and our life changed forever. She
cried for about 5 seconds and that was it.
She settled into April’s arms nicely and looked like she belonged
there. I reached for her to test the
waters of her coming to me and well, she just isn’t there yet. But that is ok, she will come around.
As
we were still at the Civil Affairs Office, I found it interesting that anytime
an Chinese lady came near April, Primrose would start crying and grab on to
April. She seems to know who we are
because the photo book we sent is very worn from all the times she has looked at
it. And the monkey we sent her for her
birthday, well she will not let it out of her sight.
We
are back in our hotel room now bonding.
Prim has had a bath and is now sitting on the bed looking at pictures on
April’s phone. Right now she is just
taking it all in. She is a very sweet
spirited little girl.
April
decided to go buy some milk and let daddy bonding time happen. Again Primrose only cried for 5 seconds or so
and then we had a good time playing and eating puffs. I even got her to laugh at daddy. She has had a big day and I hope that after
she gets some sleep tonight that tomorrow will be great. Stay Tuned!
