China Day 4 – Adoption Day

This morning when we woke up we had a 17 month old baby girl asleep in her crib.  She did wonderful sleeping through the night; after all she had a big day yesterday.  We were up a little earlier than normal so we just played for a little while and waited until it was time to Skype Belle and let her see in sister with mommy and daddy for the first time.  Belle was so excited to see her baby sister and now she cannot wait until we get home.  After our Skype with Belle we visited the breakfast buffet and Primrose tore up the rice we put in front of her.  She loved it, and she loved the apple juice as well.

We went back up to the room to get our gifts together to give the officials we would be meeting with today and spent time playing with Prim.  She was having a great time and just a laughing at her daddy.  As we were getting ready to leave something inside Prim shifted and she didn’t want April near her.  So, daddy took care of her and off we were to make the adoption official.

The visit to the Civil Affairs Office was much different today than it was yesterday.  Yesterday was “hand-off day” and crying babies were everywhere.  Today, it was a smaller group but some of the same kids.  This time they were not crying, they were playing with their forever family.  It was fairly uneventful at the Civil Affairs Office, we had two different interviews (5 minutes each) that clarified our intentions in adoption and how we planned to take care of Primrose.  So today made our adoption official in China.  We are the parents of Primrose YuJing Satcher.  Tomorrow we go to apply for her passport so we can bring her home.

Today has been tough on April.  Like I mentioned earlier, Primrose has decided she doesn’t want momma around.  She cries if I try to give her to April.  I even left the room to go pick up lunch and she screamed and cried the entire time I was gone.   I know this is normal in the cycle of emotions for orphans, but could you all please pray that that connection between April and Primrose would return.  Yesterday she didn’t like me too much; today it is mommy’s turn I guess.  I just hope when she wakes from her nap things will be better.

I will post some videos of Primrose later.  Stay Tuned!
